Milestones in sequence

  1. Two consecutive terms · before 2023

    State President, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha — Nagaland

    Yepthomi led the BJP’s youth wing in Nagaland for two consecutive terms. Within the party’s structure this is the standard formation for organisational leadership: the Yuva Morcha recruits cadre, staffs campaigns and builds the district-level network that a state unit later depends on. Two full terms is an unusually long run, and it gave him a personal network across the districts before he held any senior state office.

  2. Before 2023

    State Vice President, BJP Nagaland

    His move from the youth wing into the senior state team placed him inside the unit’s decision-making structure. It was the office he held immediately before his elevation, and it is the position most often cited in reporting on his appointment.

  3. 2018 and 2023 · Assembly elections

    Election management, and the Prime Minister’s Dimapur rally

    Yepthomi was active in the party’s election management for both the 2018 and 2023 Nagaland Assembly elections. In 2023 he was placed in charge of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s grand rally at Dimapur — the largest and most scrutinised logistical undertaking of a Nagaland general election, and an assignment ordinarily given to someone the national organisation already trusts. He also campaigned for the party in Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Karnataka and Maharashtra, and organised the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan in the state.

  4. 25 September 2023

    Appointed State President by J. P. Nadda

    BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda appointed Yepthomi president of the Nagaland unit with immediate effect, through an organisational appointment letter issued by national general secretary and headquarters in-charge Arun Singh. He succeeded Temjen Imna Along, the state’s Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, who had held the post for two terms, and became the eleventh president of the unit. Reporting at the time gave his age as forty-five. Congratulations followed from Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton and his predecessor, who wrote that Yepthomi’s “vision and commitment will definitely take BJP Nagaland to greater heights.”

  5. 28 September 2023 · Kohima

    Assumes office at the state headquarters

    Yepthomi took charge at a formal function at the BJP state headquarters in Kohima, in the presence of Temjen Imna Along, Abhay Giri — BJP General Secretary (Organisation) in charge of Nagaland and Manipur — Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton, legislators and party workers. He pledged not to divide the party but to strengthen it on every platform, called for a unit “united on all fronts,” and committed to working at the grassroots and booth levels under the Prime Minister’s formulation of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayaas.

  6. 16 July 2024 · Dimapur

    Extended State Executive Meeting adopts the unit’s programme

    At IMC Hall, Dimapur, the unit adopted the resolutions that would define the rest of the term: support for the NDA after its third consecutive Lok Sabha victory and for the Act East Policy and North East Economic Corridor; backing for the state’s PDA government under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton; support for an early, inclusive and honourable solution to the Naga political issue, with an appeal to expedite finalisation; a requirement that only active party workers be recommended for PDA and public sector undertaking positions; and a commitment to booth-level committees at every polling booth in the state.

  7. 4–24 September 2024

    The State Presidential Mandal Tour, Tizit to Seyochung–Sitimi

    Yepthomi led the Sadasyata Abhiyan membership tour across three weeks, opening at Tizit in the state’s far north-east and concluding at Seyochung–Sitimi. The drive ran at roughly 140 locations statewide, more than nine of them in Dimapur, enrolling members for the 2024–2030 cycle against a previous figure of about two lakh; he reported around 2.15 lakh active and primary members. Two political entries occurred during the tour: Sethrichem Sangtam at Longkhim–Chare on 12 September, and former Deputy Speaker Yangseo Sangtam at Kiphire town on 23 September.

  8. 25 September 2024

    Completes a first year having toured every district

    At the end of his first year Yepthomi had covered every district of Nagaland, thirty assembly constituencies, and all twenty constituencies and mandals of Eastern Nagaland. He was described in regional reporting as the first state BJP president to have toured and connected with the grassroots to that extent within a first year — a claim about the manner of the tenure rather than about any electoral result.

  9. January 2025 · Kohima

    Re-elected unopposed for a second term

    During the party’s Sangathan Parv 2024–25 organisational cycle, Yepthomi was unanimously returned as State President, unopposed, at the state BJP head office in Kohima, with the result declared by the national observer. He thanked the Prime Minister, the national leadership, state legislators and party members, and set out the terms of the second term: “The BJP stands for honesty, transparency, and service. Together, we will strengthen our bond with the people, deliver on our promises, and secure a prosperous future for Nagaland.”
